Case Study

Brief: redesign an existing website

UX/UI Design

Second Summer Bride

Approach

Before starting any re-design process, it is key to understand the specific market we are targeting.

For this we have conducted market research on bridal dress shopping. As well as user interviews, the audience to target.

Research

2 Million Weddings happen every year

Average cost of a wedding dress is $1800.

"38 percent of shoppers say they want to support their community and local creators."

-A study done by Intuit in 2022 in regards to shopping local

User Interviews

Goals

The goals of the user interviews were to understand user needs, and the problem we are trying to solve. The interviews give insights into what users think about a bridal dress shopping. Looking for insights on how they feel, as it is is important for ideas regarding future improvement we can make.

Focusing on priority 1 items. The key features listed below are important key features for this design. Based on user and market research.

Why are these features important?

69% of American customers now shop online. Although most brides purchase their dress in store. They are looking around online for inspiration before hand.

Unique Experience

More options for those who want a designer dress on a budget.

Mood Board

User Flows

Identified specific scenarios and decision points users would take to achieve their goals.

Site Map

Outlined essential pages and content which would be accounted for in the design.

Color Palette

The original site had an orange flower and I wanted to keep aspects of the company's colors. The soft colors pairs well with bridal photos.

Typography

Keeping the font classy and elegant.

Usabilty Testing

I built a simple prototype in Figma, and had 6 test participants. Users were tasked with navigating and making an appointment. Below is feedback and iterations.

Task

5 out of 6 users selected the button on the hero image to make an appointment. One user scrolled to the bottom of the home page. No users selected appointments on the header tab. No changes made at this time.

Other feedback I received during usability testing was when sharing a dress users mainly preferred copying a link. And did not utilize sending via email.

Next Steps

While this design cycle has come to an end. I am always looking to improve. Next steps would include another round of usability testing. A feature that allows brides to post and sell their gently used dress. And how many users would actually utilize it. Dedicate time to develop more filters/tags.
